Tattoo Aftercare Guide

Cling Wrap Care
  • 5At Rollers Tattoo, we care about your ink’s longevity and your skin’s health. If your tattoo artist has applied cling wrap to your fresh tattoo, follow these steps for immediate aftercare:

  • 5Leave the cling wrap on for a minimum of 1 hour, but no longer than 4 hours.

  • 5After removing the wrap, gently wipe the tattoo with a clean, wet paper towel or wash it in the shower.

  • 5Pat the area dry with a clean towel post-shower.

  • 5Begin using a high-quality tattoo aftercare product until your tattoo is fully healed. We recommend Bepanthen from the Chemist or a reputable aftercare brand.

Second Skin Strategy
  • 5If your artist has employed a second skin approach, please observe the following guidelines:

  • 5Keep the second skin on for 5 to 10 days.

  • 5During this period, you may notice some blood, residual ink, and plasma buildup under the second skin. This is entirely normal and will subside.

  • 5Upon removal, you may see an imprint of the tattoo on the second skin. This is excess ink on the skin’s surface, not the tattoo itself.

  • 5If you experience any irritation with the second skin, remove it and switch to an aftercare cream.

Healing Essentials
  • 5Tattoo healing time can vary, but it generally takes up to 14 days. Follow these essential tips:

  • 5Avoid swimming, baths, saunas, and any activities that may soak your tattoo during the healing period. Keep it dry.

  • 5Limit shower time to under 15 minutes and use lukewarm water that’s comfortable for your tattooed skin.

  • 5Stay out of direct sunlight and avoid using fake tanning products.

  • 5Wear loose-fitting clothing and avoid tight accessories that may rub against the tattoo.

  • 5Regular exercise is fine but keep the tattoo clean. If discomfort arises, consider postponing strenuous activities.

  • 5Resist the urge to scratch or pick at the tattoo. Itching is a natural part of the healing process.

  • 5Remember that your new tattoo is an open wound and requires special care.

Effective Aftercare Creams
  • 5At Rollers Tattoo, we offer one complimentary touch-up appointment after your tattoo has fully healed, provided it’s within 2 months of your initial tattoo session. Please ensure your tattoo has fully healed before scheduling your touch-up.

  • 5Complimentary touch-ups do not apply in the following circumstances:

  • 5If the tattoo is located in highly prone areas to ink fading (e.g., fingers, hands, feet, toes, palms, ears, lips, armpits, knees, and elbows).

  • 5Failure to follow aftercare procedures.

  • 5If you wish to make additions or changes to the original tattoo.

  • 5If the artist who performed the original tattoo is no longer at our studio.

  • 5If the tattoo was executed using a single needle or fine line technique.

  • 5If numbing cream was used during the initial session.

Effective Aftercare Creams
  • 5When using an aftercare product, apply only a thin layer. If you notice any redness or irritation, discontinue use immediately. It’s crucial to maintain cleanliness during the healing process.
